Operations Director – Birmingham City Council Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead the delivery of a new 10‑year partnership with Birmingham City Council, covering repairs, maintenance and planned investment across 11,500 homes. The role will start ahead of the contract go‑live on 1 July 2026 and will be responsible for both operational execution and after‑care services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and accountability for Operations and Aftercare functions from project inception to the end of the defects liability period.
• Ensure Health & Safety and SHEQ compliance, chair monthly SHEQ meetings and embed standards across all sites.
• Maintain strong commercial control, programme delivery and performance management across live sites.
• Develop and nurture key client relationships with Birmingham City Council and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee resourcing, recruitment and capability planning to meet current and future business needs.
• Implement group policies and develop departmental procedures as required.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in large‑scale construction, facilities or housing services.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑site operations and after‑care programmes.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience of contract performance monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Track record of embedding Health & Safety and SHEQ standards.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and SHEQ processes.
• Experience with commercial performance reporting and programme management.
