Opex Controller – Financial Management (London)

About the role

The Opex Controller will join the UKI EssilorLuxottica Group to manage and monitor operating expenses, ensuring financial accuracy, cost control, and adherence to budgets. Working closely with department heads, the role supports forecasting, variance analysis, and the implementation of cost‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely OPEX financial reporting, including accounting postings, provisions, and cost accruals.
• Review monthly spending by category against prior year and budget, analysing cost drivers such as headcount and inflation.
• Monitor and analyse selling costs—including commissions, promotions, travel—and identify efficiency improvements.
• Assist in the preparation and review of OPEX budgets and forecasts, managing risks and opportunities.
• Act as a business partner to department heads, providing guidance on expense management.
• Identify and challenge unnecessary spending, contracts, and supplier choices to drive cost savings.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in cost control, financial reporting, planning and analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Proven relationship‑building skills across diverse organisational functions.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
