Production Operative – Manufacturing & Packaging

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Production Operative to join a fast‑paced manufacturing team in Basingstoke, producing dehydrated culture media. The role involves operating equipment, managing batch records and supporting continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Execute manufacturing and packaging processes for dehydrated culture media products.
• Create and maintain batch manufacturing records and manage product labeling.
• Operate specialised equipment and follow defined SOPs to ensure product quality.
• Update inventory and production data in SAP stock management system.
• Maintain training records and comply with quality management standards.
• Participate in daily departmental meetings, monitoring performance and safety metrics.
• Identify and suggest improvements to streamline tasks and boost team productivity.

Required profile

• Strong literacy and numeracy with ability to follow written instructions and record data accurately.
• Comfortable using computer systems, email and internal databases.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg material bags.
• Commitment to safety, quality and professional accountability.
• Manufacturing experience preferred but not essential for candidates with the right aptitude.

• Competitive hourly rate of £13.46 plus a 10 % shift allowance (£14.80 total).
• Full‑time 40 hour week on rotating shifts (06:00‑14:00 or 09:00‑17:00).
