Senior Mechanical Engineer – Low‑Carbon Energy

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join a fast‑growing consultancy delivering low‑carbon heat‑pump, HVAC and heating‑cooling projects across the UK. Based in Birmingham with a hybrid schedule (3 days office), you will become a senior leader shaping technical direction and mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of innovative low‑carbon energy and HVAC projects from concept through commissioning.
• Act as senior technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Own engineering outputs, including heat loss/gain calculations, equipment selection and plantroom layouts.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of engineers.
• Drive technical excellence, quality assurance and best practice across projects.
• Support project planning, programme management and client engagement.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years’ experience in mechanical building services, HVAC, renewable energy or low‑carbon heating systems.
• Proven expertise in heat loss/gain calculations, HVAC system design and equipment sizing.
• Client‑facing experience with ability to build trusted relationships.
• Experience leading projects and supporting junior engineers.
• Chartered status (or working towards) desirable but not essential.
