Senior Nurse – Donor Care Lead

About the role

The Senior Nurse will lead the Glasgow and West Donor Collection teams within the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. This pivotal leadership position focuses on delivering high‑quality donor care and supporting the transformation of blood services across Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership for donor collection teams.
• Ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care for blood donors.
• Collaborate with national programmes to improve service delivery and data quality.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Represent the service in stakeholder meetings and public health initiatives.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational abilities.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development within the nursing competencies framework.
• Current registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Willingness to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check and any required overseas criminal record checks.
• Residency and right to work in the United Kingdom.
