Sheltered Housing Officer (Part Time)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Sheltered Housing Officer to support Ealing Council’s sheltered housing schemes in Northolt. Working 17.5 hours per week on a three‑month fixed‑term contract, you will help residents maintain tenancies and live independently in a safe, welcoming environment. The role requires a DBS check and will be based at Gainsborough Tower, Northolt.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of designated sheltered housing schemes.
• Serve as the primary contact for residents, families and partner agencies on tenancy and housing matters.
• Carry out welfare, tenancy and compliance checks, including fire safety inspections.
• Coordinate referrals to social care, health and other support services.
• Address low‑level anti‑social behaviour and escalate when necessary.
• Assist with letting new tenants, from viewings to settling‑in support.
• Promote community engagement and participation in scheme activities.
• Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Experience in housing management or a related field.
• Strong customer‑service orientation, especially when working with older or vulnerable residents.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management and safeguarding principles.
• Ability to assess resident needs and make appropriate referrals.
• Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated with the capacity to manage workload independently and respond to emergencies.
