Tax Manager, Governance & Risk Management

About the role

This opportunity is for a Tax Manager specialising in Governance and Risk Management to join a leading professional services firm. You will work from Manchester, supporting a diverse client base that includes PE‑backed businesses, family‑owned enterprises, UK‑listed companies and multinationals.

Key responsibilities

• Expand and deliver the tax governance offering across the client portfolio.
• Identify, assess and mitigate tax risks, building sustainable tax control frameworks.
• Advise clients on Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) and Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) compliance.
• Support HMRC business risk reviews and assist in the development and publication of tax strategies.
• Lead workshops and training sessions for client teams.
• Manage project delivery, ensuring quality and timely completion.
• Coach junior team members and contribute to the team’s operational performance and growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering tax governance projects such as SAO, CCO, tax strategy development and HMRC risk reviews.
• ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualification with strong corporate tax and accounting knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills, confident in leading workshops.
• Commercial mindset, analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive approach to identifying business opportunities and delivering long‑term value.
