Team Leader – Days & Nights (Care Home)

About the role

St Mary’s Care Centre in Kingston upon Hull is seeking a warm and enthusiastic Team Leader to support residents day and night. You will work alongside a compassionate team to ensure high‑quality, person‑centred care and help create a vibrant, supportive environment for all residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities, ensuring comfort, dignity and safety.
• Support and supervise junior staff, providing training and guidance under senior staff oversight.
• Monitor residents with limited mobility, learning difficulties or behavioural challenges, using appropriate aids.
• Observe and record care plans, complete daily documentation and liaise with GPs and support managers.
• Respond to nurse call systems, answer doors and phones, and pass on messages promptly.
• Assist with continence promotion, end‑of‑life care and last offices.
• Participate in social activities, encouraging residents to pursue hobbies and interests.

Required profile

• Friendly, approachable and positive attitude.
• Organised, reliable and confident in leading a team.
• Creative, enthusiastic and able to motivate others.
• Passionate about improving the lives of older people.
• Flexible to work some evenings and alternate weekends.
• Previous experience in a similar care‑home role.
• Willingness to work towards or hold NVQ Level 3 in health and social care.
