Trainer – First Aid & Health Courses (Derby)

About the role

You will deliver a range of workplace training courses—including First Aid at Work, Fire Marshal, and Mental Health Awareness—to diverse learner groups across Derby and the surrounding area. You will manage your own schedule, travel to training venues, and ensure each session is set up professionally and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and assess courses such as First Aid at Work, Fire Marshal and Mental Health Awareness.
• Prepare training venues, ensuring all equipment and materials are ready.
• Conduct dynamic risk assessments and act as the designated first aider and fire marshal on site.
• Maintain up‑to‑date subject knowledge through continuous professional development.
• Promote the organisation’s products and services to learners.
• Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.

Required profile

• Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development or equivalent.
• Valid course‑specific qualification (e.g., First Aid at Work, IOSH).
• Experience delivering first aid and/or health & safety courses to adults.
• Physically able to perform CPR on a manikin.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Confidence using Microsoft applications and digital tools for course administration.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Digital course administration tools.
• CPR and first aid certification.
