About the role
The Volunteer Assistant supports the Head of Volunteering in delivering Bowel Cancer UK’s strategic objectives. This role strengthens volunteer management, boosts engagement, and drives continuous development across the charity.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update people‑related data for volunteers and managers.
- Provide day‑to‑day support to volunteer managers and volunteers, ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
- Manage the volunteering inbox, coordinate events, and facilitate onboarding and ongoing engagement activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks that keep volunteer programmes running smoothly.
- Contribute to wider projects and initiatives aimed at improving the volunteer experience.
Required profile
- Demonstrated interest in volunteer coordination within a charitable or health‑focused environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS, PVG, or Access check as required.
