Health and Personal Care Assistant – School Support

About the role

The Health and Personal Care Assistant will support the personal, intimate and health‑care needs of pupils aged 3 to 19 at Brackenfield School. Working within the Children’s Services team and reporting to the Health and Personal Care Manager, you will help ensure a safe, caring environment for students with complex medical and communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal, intimate and health‑care assistance to pupils in line with school policies.
• Deliver first‑aid support and follow established health‑care procedures.
• Assist pupils with independent life‑skill development and complex medical requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding protocols, including DBS checks.
• Collaborate with staff to promote the school’s ethos and high expectations.

Required profile

• Experience in medical or health‑care settings, preferably with vulnerable adults or young people.
• Ability to follow systems and procedures with minimal supervision.
• Adaptable team player committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
• Willingness to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
