Human Resources Manager (2 Year FTC)

About the role

We are seeking a Human Resources Manager on a two‑year fixed‑term contract to lead HR services for the Lower Thames Crossing project in the UK. Reporting to the project leadership team, you will ensure effective people management, full compliance with UK labour law and alignment with VSL and Bouygues Group HR policies.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary HR business partner for the project leadership team, providing practical, business‑focused HR advice.
• Support Project Directors and site leadership in managing people‑related matters in a high‑pressure environment.
• Advise on employee relations, workforce planning, organisational change and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment law, VSL HR policies and Bouygues Group procedures.
• Oversee employee administration: contracts, onboarding, right‑to‑work checks, visas, benefits and off‑boarding.
• Manage disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance processes in a fair, consistent, legally compliant manner.
• Coordinate recruitment activities with the Talent team to staff site‑based and project roles.
• Support internal mobility, early‑career programmes, apprenticeships, internships and graduate recruitment.
• Identify training needs, deliver technical, leadership and mandatory training, and support succession planning.
• Promote diversity, equity and inclusion, monitor gender diversity targets and contribute to employee wellbeing initiatives.
• Track and report HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, absence, diversity and recruitment figures, providing insights to project and UK HR leadership.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Solid experience as a generalist HR Manager or Senior HR Business Partner.
• Experience in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or major projects is strongly preferred.
