Senior Quality Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality excellence at our Manchester site. In this senior position you will guide a small team, own customer quality issues and embed robust quality processes across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a high‑performing quality team.
• Champion health & safety and embed a safety‑first culture in all quality activities.
• Own customer quality issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage product returns and repairs to meet customer expectations.
• Apply structured problem‑solving methods (8D, Lean) to internal, supplier and customer issues.
• Develop and communicate quality KPIs and visual metrics.
• Improve inspection and verification processes in partnership with operations, engineering and supply chain.
• Lead product, process, system and supplier audits.
• Reduce cost of poor quality through sustainable improvements.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to embed quality from design to production.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in a senior quality role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong background managing a Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and using 8D/RCA, Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodologies.
• Experience in customer‑facing environments with NCR management.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as PED and ATEX (desirable).
• Familiarity with regulated sectors such as Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear, Project or Infrastructure.
