Telecommunications Engineer – Glasgow

About the role

OneAPPS Consulting is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to join its Glasgow team. You will work on diverse projects, supporting the installation, commissioning and maintenance of IP and telecom infrastructure for European clients.

Key responsibilities

• Erect and secure EMC cabinets and power equipment racks (DC chargers).
• Install cable containment systems such as trays and trunking.
• Wire and connect DC cabling to IP and telecom equipment.
• Cable and terminate IP and telecom cables (SWA, CAT5, 10‑100Pr).
• Install, commission and test IP and telecom equipment, including circuit protection and bearer services (PDH, SDH, IP LAN/WAN).
• Configure IP telephones and Cisco/Alcatel switches and routers.
• Provide 1st‑line support and 24/7/365 troubleshooting for IP and telecom infrastructure.
• Conduct routine maintenance on battery chargers, fiber optic cables, pilot cables, radio systems and CTC.
• Perform risk assessments, site surveys and produce hand‑over documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant authorisations (WI‑2, EN‑1, WL‑1.5, 1.8, SB‑2).
• Full driving licence and emergency first‑aid certification.
• IOSH and EUSR health & safety training.

• Cisco IP LAN/WAN & MPLS interworking.
• Alcatel IP products.
• Avara PDH & SDH.
• OTN Xtran MPLS‑TP.
• IP telephony.
• Radio systems – Westica, Mimo Max, Cienna.
• Operation of IP and telecom test equipment.
• Symmetricom GPS timing.
• Fiber and pilot‑cable testing.
