Waste Operative – Recycling & Waste Management

About the role

Join Spirit Aerosystems in Belfast as a Waste Operative, playing a vital part in delivering efficient recycling and waste services across the site. You will ensure waste receptacles are emptied, recyclables are correctly segregated for maximum rebate value, and waste activities support rather than disrupt ongoing business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Follow safe systems of work, company policies and a ‘clean as you go’ approach.
• Wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
• Decant and empty waste receptacles, ensuring proper segregation of waste streams.
• Move and position waste containers to meet site needs.
• Coordinate bins, skips and collections with external waste contractors.
• Operate balers, compactors and other equipment for cardboard, plastic, etc.
• Report equipment defects promptly and complete required check sheets.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping, signage and labelling in all waste areas.
• Liaise with the Site Waste Manager to achieve customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Full, clean driving licence.
• Willingness to attend training and develop new skills.
• Professional appearance, punctuality and adherence to uniform and ID badge policies.
• Commitment to health and safety, reporting accidents or near‑misses immediately.

Required skills

• Licensed forklift operation (counter‑balance).
• Experience operating waste handling equipment such as balers and compactors.
