Yard Controller – Northumberland Park

About the role

We are seeking a Yard Controller for our Northumberland Park garage within Go-Ahead London. The role is pivotal in overseeing morning vehicle movements and supporting daily bus service delivery, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all vehicle and pedestrian movements, enforcing safety protocols and PPE use.
• Allocate buses for safe and efficient departures and manage garage parking.
• Oversee charging status of electric buses and implement effective charging strategies.
• Report serious incidents promptly to management.
• Liaise with engineering teams to resolve vehicle defects quickly.
• Communicate with iBus at the Operations Control Centre to report service‑impacting delays.
• Ensure pre‑service checks on Tranzaura are completed and audited.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.
• Confident decision‑maker able to challenge unsafe practices.
• Proactive problem‑solver adaptable to changing situations.
• People‑focused with a commitment to safety.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, middays and nights.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Tranzaura, Betterfleet and bus allocation (training provided).
