Academic Mentor – Secondary School (East London)

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Academic Mentor to join a well‑regarded mixed secondary school in Leyton, East London. You will work closely with teachers to create a supportive classroom atmosphere, help students achieve their learning goals and encourage active participation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering high‑quality lessons and preparing learning materials.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to reinforce learning objectives.
- Monitor, record and report student progress to teaching staff.
- Adapt support for pupils with varying abilities and learning needs.
- Supervise students during break times, educational visits and extracurricular activities as required.
- Contribute to the school’s safeguarding and wellbeing policies.
Required profile
- Minimum of 7 GCSEs at grades A‑C (4‑9), including English and Mathematics.
- 2:1 degree or higher from a recognised university.
- Genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Proactive, adaptable and professional approach to work.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

- Full‑time, 1‑year fixed‑term contract.
- Competitive daily rate of £100‑£110.
