Account Manager – Surgical Sales (North West Midlands/North Wales)

About the role

Alcon is the global leader in eye care, seeking an Account Manager to drive surgical sales across the North West Midlands and North Wales. You will be responsible for growing sales of intra‑ocular lenses (IOLs), cataract consumables and related equipment while maintaining strong relationships with hospital theatre departments.

Key responsibilities

• Own total Alcon sales performance and market share for the IOL portfolio in the territory.
• Monitor consumable availability, support stock management and address product availability issues.
• Initiate equipment leads with support from product experts and develop cataract‑dominant account plans.
• Gather market insight, translate it into commercial execution and provide end‑to‑end customer support.
• Map decision‑making processes, build relationships with key stakeholders and negotiate contracts.
• Prepare and negotiate quotes, coordinate specialist roles and drive local events that meet customer needs.
• Track competitor activity and convert competition through value‑based selling.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience in medical devices or pharma, preferably in a theatre environment.
• Consultative B2B selling approach with strong business acumen.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Understanding of surgical techniques, anatomy and ophthalmology concepts (not mandatory).
• Ability to work cross‑functionally within a matrix organisation.

Required skills

• Experience using budget impact models to demonstrate value.
• Proficiency in value‑based selling methodologies.
