Accountant – Hybrid Role in City of London

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join a well‑established international bank in the City of London. The role combines hybrid working with exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting and operational finance within a dynamic banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual operating expense budgets for the bank and its departments.
• Produce monthly expense analysis and cost allocation reports.
• Review expenses and receipts to ensure accurate recording and supporting documentation.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain amortisation schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed‑asset, software and prepaid expense registers.
• Reconcile accounts payable, receivable and suspense accounts.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
• Support parent‑bank reporting and regulatory obligations.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation.
• Manage company card administration and settlements.
• Participate in finance system enhancements and expense process improvements.
• Prepare minutes for Finance Committee meetings.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting.
• Open to part‑qualified or fully qualified accountants.
• Previous banking experience preferred, ideally with at least two years in operating expense journal posting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to understand commercial context.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
