Adviser (Strategy) – Housing & Technical Resources

About the role

This is a new opportunity within Housing and Technical Resources to shape and deliver strategic housing policies and programmes for South Lanarkshire. The Adviser will work on affordable housing supply, asset management and energy efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the council’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme and Market Purchase Scheme.
• Maintain and update the Strategic Housing Investment Plan and guide additional affordable housing delivery.
• Implement an asset‑management approach for the housing stock to meet quality and climate targets.
• Facilitate the South Lanarkshire Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy and related housing projects.
• Ensure all strategies and policies comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Support the development, review and implementation of corporate and partner priorities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the strategic and policy context for housing and homelessness.
• Proven experience delivering complex development projects or programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the development and implementation of housing strategies, policies or programmes.
• Experience leading complex housing or homelessness‑related projects to successful delivery.

What we offer

• Permanent contract with a salary range of £58,104 – £59,911 per year.
• 35‑hour work week (Monday‑Thursday 8:45‑16:45, Friday 8:45‑16:15).
• Location at Council Headquarters, Hamilton.
