Aerodynamic Icing Engineer

About the role

Airbus is seeking a highly motivated Aerodynamic Icing Engineer to support the development of next‑generation aircraft. You will work with Future Projects and R&D teams, applying advanced modelling and testing to ensure safe and efficient operation in icing conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run state‑of‑the‑art computer models of aerodynamic icing accretion and assess its impact on aircraft performance and handling.
• Lead and steer the aerodynamic icing certification process for future aircraft, influencing certification requirements.
• Define, attend and analyse wind‑tunnel tests at world‑leading facilities.
• Define, attend and analyse flight tests, making real‑time decisions based on live telemetry data.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of aerodynamics and the factors influencing lift and drag.
• Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex technical messages for varied audiences.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams or subcontractors in an international environment.
• Experience in Python (or similar) for data analysis.
• Familiarity with aerodynamic icing phenomena, related certification standards (CS‑25, FAR‑25), and aircraft flight‑performance concepts.
• Practical experience with CFD modelling of 2D/3D geometries, mesh selection, turbulence models and result interpretation.
• Experience planning, supporting and analysing wind‑tunnel and flight tests.
