Agency Social Worker – Children’s Front Door & Screening Team

About the role

This temporary agency position supports Leicestershire County Council’s Children’s Social Care Front Door and Screening Team. You will help ensure that children and families receive the right response at the right time by screening and triaging referrals.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and triage contacts and referrals relating to children and young people.
• Gather and analyse information from families, professionals and partner agencies.
• Apply safeguarding thresholds and make clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
• Record decisions, rationale and outcomes accurately and within required timescales.
• Collaborate effectively with Children’s Social Care, Targeted Family Help and multi‑agency partners.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, fully registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in a local authority setting.
• Recent experience in Children’s Social Care, preferably front‑door, MASH, screening, duty or assessment work.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence in threshold decision‑making.
• Ability to work at pace in a high‑volume environment with excellent recording, analysis and communication skills.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £38.
• Fixed‑term contract lasting at least three months.
