Assistant Financial Accountant – Sports

About the role

Join a leading sports organisation as an Assistant Financial Accountant and build your finance career in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You will support month‑end reporting, maintain strong financial controls and gain exposure to all aspects of financial accounting within the sports sector.

Key responsibilities

• Support the month‑end close process and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare journals, accruals, pre‑payments and perform balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Assist with the annual external audit by preparing schedules and documentation.
• Process purchase invoices and run supplier payments.
• Raise sales invoices and support credit‑control activities.
• Handle finance inboxes and respond to supplier and internal queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or at least two years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Experience supporting month‑end close and posting journals.
• Strong reconciliation skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Exposure to statutory audits is advantageous.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
