Assistant Management Accountant – £35,000

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a well‑established, growing organisation in Wigan. This full‑time, permanent position offers exposure to both operational and management accounting across multiple locations, supporting a fast‑paced, commercially focused finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Support the smooth running of the finance function.
• Supervise and guide members of the accounts team.
• Assist in the production of monthly management accounts.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Reconcile asset profitability between operational records and financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate fixed‑asset and stock records and support periodic stock checks.
• Prepare payroll data for submission to an outsourced provider.
• Complete VAT returns.
• Support cash‑book processes, including payments and receipts.
• Manage and reconcile creditor balances.
• Identify opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and efficiencies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar management accounts or finance role.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Confident user of Excel.
• Experience with finance systems.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, resilient, and solutions‑oriented mindset.
• Strong communication skills with a positive, can‑do approach.
