Automotive Learning Coach – Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeships

About the role
As an Automotive Learning Coach you will guide and mentor apprentices across a range of heavy‑vehicle programmes, including Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance, Bus and Coach Engineering, and Trailer Engineering. You will work closely with learners, their employers and internal curriculum teams to keep apprentices on track and help them achieve successful apprenticeship outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of approximately 40 apprentices, delivering regular progress reviews and coaching sessions.
- Monitor development against apprenticeship standards and maintain accurate learner records.
- Collaborate with employer mentors and managers to drive progression and address any performance gaps.
- Prepare apprentices for gateway assessments and the End‑Point Assessment.
- Identify and implement targeted interventions when additional support is required.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the learning journey.
Required profile
- Industry experience in HGV, heavy‑vehicle, commercial‑vehicle engineering, fleet maintenance, manufacturing or trailer engineering.
- Previous experience in education, training, coaching, mentoring or apprenticeship delivery.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Desirable: assessing or teaching qualifications such as A1, TAQA, PTLLS, PGCE, etc.
