Building Surveyor – Remote (Birmingham area)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our growing consultancy on a work‑from‑home basis, supporting projects across Birmingham and the surrounding region. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, delivering high‑quality services to the public housing sector.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Contract Administrator, preparing specifications and schedules of work.
• Conduct site inspections, quality management and cost control activities.
• Lead and attend site meetings, managing client relationships on a project‑by‑project basis.
• Provide CDM consultancy/Principal Designer duties and oversee Party Wall Act and property surveys.
• Coordinate design, ensure compliance with regulations and produce detailed reports.
• Mentor and manage a small team of junior surveyors, providing guidance and support.

Required profile

• RICS or CIOB accredited construction degree.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience, ideally in new build and refurbishment within the public sector.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff and communicate confidently with clients.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
