Business Relationship Director

About the role

The Business Relationship Director will lead the development and management of relationships with SME clients across the Midlands, driving growth and delivering tailored financial solutions. The role combines client‑facing visits, office work and hybrid home‑based days.

Key responsibilities

• Identify client financial goals, challenges and risk tolerance to shape bespoke banking solutions.
• Research industry trends, regulatory changes and competitive landscapes to inform strategic recommendations.
• Design and present customised product packages, negotiate terms and communicate value propositions.
• Provide expert advice on investment, risk management and wealth strategies while monitoring client satisfaction and revenue metrics.
• Document all interactions and ensure compliance with risk, control and governance standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and maintaining banking client relationships, including face‑to‑face interaction.
• Strong leadership, influencing and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent external networking and stakeholder management skills.
• Solid commercial awareness and understanding of credit risk.
• Effective diary management, prioritisation and hybrid working flexibility.
