Children's Social Worker – Blackpool

About the role

Join the Children’s Services team in Blackpool and help families, children and young people thrive. The position is part of the BFS Teams and offers a blend of on‑site and flexible working.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑birth assessments, child protection investigations and complex child‑in‑need cases.
• Prepare high‑quality court statements, assessments and pre‑proceeding documentation.
• Mentor and coach less‑experienced social workers, providing reflective learning opportunities.
• Maintain regular face‑to‑face contact with families and children, with a minimum of two days on‑site each week.
• Manage a caseload effectively, receiving support during the transition phase to ensure case continuity.

Required profile

• Proven experience in children’s social work, including pre‑birth assessments and child protection.
• Ability to produce accurate documentation for court proceedings.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and high standards of practice.
