Claims Handler

About the role

We are looking for a Claims Handler to join a fast‑growing claims department in Chelmsford. The role involves managing third‑party insurance claims from initial notification through to final settlement, ensuring high‑quality service and compliance with internal procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Handle third‑party claims end‑to‑end, from notification to resolution.
• Conduct thorough investigations, negotiate liability disputes and assess personal injury losses, including loss of earnings and care costs.
• Maintain accurate records in the Claims Management System and ensure proper calculation of reserves, payments and large movement reports.
• Prioritise workload, manage customer expectations and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Monitor productivity, service quality and performance against agreed service level agreements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing timely information.
• Participate in review meetings and contribute to change initiatives within the team.

Required profile

• Previous experience in claims handling or a related insurance role.
• Proven ability to investigate and negotiate liability disputes.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate assessment of general damages.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop.
