CNC Machine Operator / Improver

About the role

We are looking for a CNC Machine Operator / Improver to join a family‑owned engineering business in Orpington. The position is ideal for an experienced CNC operator who wants to develop skills in machine setting and eventually programming.

Key responsibilities

• Follow job cards, procedures and team‑leader instructions.
• Operate CNC milling and turning machines.
• Inspect components as they exit the machines.
• Perform daily machine checks.
• Interpret engineering drawings and production methods to produce parts.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC milling and turning processes.
• Experience using inspection tools such as micrometres and verniers.
• Familiarity with an ISO 9001 quality system.
• Basic computer literacy and a motivated, pressure‑tolerant attitude.

What we offer

• 40 hours per week (Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑16:30) with overtime.
• £14.00‑£14.50 per hour, dependent on experience.
