Cover Supervisor / General Supply Teacher – Bedford

About the role
We are looking for a proactive Cover Supervisor / General Supply Teacher to provide classroom support across secondary schools in Bedford. The role involves stepping into pre‑planned lessons, maintaining routines and ensuring a safe, productive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pre‑set lessons across a variety of subjects, guiding pupils through assigned work.
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies, fostering a respectful classroom atmosphere.
- Support students with queries, encouraging focus and independence.
- Collect completed work and provide clear handover notes for the subject teacher.
- Uphold safeguarding standards and ensure pupil health and safety at all times.
Required profile
- Confident communicator with a calm, dynamic attitude.
- Experience working with secondary‑aged young people (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport.
- Reliable work ethic, adaptability and problem‑solving ability.
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Randstad).
