Customer Assistant - Nights (Part Time)

About the role

Sainsbury's is hiring a part-time Customer Assistant for its Kirkcaldy store to work nights, covering Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday shifts from 22:00 to 08:00. This is a fixed-term assignment of 20 hours per week, ending on 31 December 2026, at a rate of £13.23 per hour. Shifts are planned within the availability window and shared three weeks in advance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the store for the day by filling shelves and working steadily through the night, handling a variety of product types
• Keep the workspace tidy and the aisles clean and presentable for customers the next day
• Move stock safely from the warehouse to the shopfloor, including heavy equipment and containers
• Work across different parts of the store, including chilled and frozen areas
• Use equipment, handsets and digital systems accurately and safely
• Help in other areas when needed, such as picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts once trained and confident

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK
• Aged 18 or over, because the role involves handling goods such as alcohol
• Resilience and stamina for a physically demanding night shift, with flexibility to adapt to the disruption overnight work can cause
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is open to learning new digital tools
