Director of Corporate Services

About the role

The Met Office is seeking a Director of Corporate Services to lead a portfolio of strategic capabilities, including project delivery, commercial procurement, property governance, legal, internal audit and strategy. Reporting to the Managing Director of the Enabling Domain, you will shape organisational culture, drive transformation and ensure the delivery of the Met Office strategy during a period of significant change.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of approximately 210 staff across four Associate Directors and manage a budget of around £46 million.
• Provide strategic leadership on the Enabling Domain Senior Leadership Team and the wider Met Office Director Cohort.
• Own the delivery of programmes and projects across three strategic portfolios, acting as Senior Responsible Owner or Programme Director for complex initiatives.
• Develop and maintain the Met Office Integrated Plan, ensuring alignment of dependencies with strategic priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement and transformation across corporate services, embedding effective governance and professional standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead transformation programmes and manage substantial budgets.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience influencing senior executives.
• Excellent strategic thinking and decision‑making capabilities.
