Director of Procurement

About the role

We are seeking an experienced strategic procurement executive to lead the operational and strategic procurement services for a public‑sector and social‑housing consortium. The role will be based in Birmingham and will focus on delivering compliant procurement across frameworks, contracts and digital purchasing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver compliant procurement including framework agreements, long‑term contracts, call‑off agreements and digital purchasing solutions.
• Provide procurement and sourcing support and manage the supply chain specific to public‑sector projects.
• Act as the primary liaison between executive leadership and procurement teams.
• Develop procurement strategy, metrics and ensure alignment with current legislation.
• Lead new framework procurements, support project delivery and manage the procurement team.

Required profile

• Proven commercial track record as a Director or Senior Manager in procurement and major contract management.
• Extensive experience in affordable housing, construction or housing asset management, either in a housing association, local authority or private sector.
• Thorough knowledge of public‑sector procurement regulations, including PCR 2015/PA23.
• Hands‑on experience with construction contracts, technical specifications, legal documentation and cost models.
• Demonstrated ability to develop new business in a competitive environment.
