Driver Trainer – Fire & Rescue Service

About the role

We are seeking a Driver Trainer to join the Operational Training department of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. The role involves delivering driver training to both novice and experienced staff across all driving disciplines, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide driver training to staff in accordance with the driver training policy and legislative needs.
• Ensure safety and conduct of students and training resources, including daily vehicle checks, record keeping and cleaning of training vehicles.
• Identify and implement improvements to training delivery methods to optimise learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 GCSEs (A*-C/9-4) including English and Mathematics, or equivalent Level 2 qualification.
• Experience designing and delivering training packages.
• Ability to work independently, with strong organisational and time‑management skills, and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Full, current Category C driving licence.
