Duty Manager

About the role

Abingdon School is looking for a motivated Duty Manager to oversee the sports and leisure facilities at Tilsley Park. The position can be full‑time, part‑time or on an evening/weekend basis, offering a salary between £27,772 and £29,660 plus a £500 annual retention bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Open, prepare and close the centre safely, following all operating procedures.
• Deliver first‑class customer service, manage enquiries and resolve complaints.
• Set up and take down venues, equipment and rooms for classes, community bookings and events.
• Carry out daily checks to ensure cleanliness, tidiness and safe conditions.
• Process payments using the EPOS system, manage stock and perform cash‑up procedures.
• Work as a lifeguard or bar staff when required, maintaining full compliance.
• Administer health‑and‑safety duties, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Support the management team with administrative tasks and booking system operations.
• Collaborate with reception, coaches, fitness teams and maintenance staff.

Required profile

• Friendly, welcoming manner with strong communication skills.
• Proven experience in customer service or facility management.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Competent user of IT and comfortable handling cash and electronic payments.

Required skills

• EPOS system operation.
