Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer - Day Shift

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join a manufacturing team in the North East. The role is day‑shift based but requires flexibility to support business needs and occasional overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, allocate and monitor maintenance tasks to keep production equipment running efficiently.
• Work safely using permit systems, method statements and dynamic risk assessments.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, automation and process faults.
• Coordinate daily with production supervisors to minimise downtime.
• Identify and propose improvements to maintenance schedules and equipment reliability.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• 3‑5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or heavy‑engineering environment.
• Experience with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and fault finding on hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to work flexibly, follow site instructions and maintain a tidy work area.
• Basic fabrication and welding skills are desirable.

Required skills

• Interpretation of electrical drawings.
• Fault finding on automation systems.
• Experience with AC/DC drives.
• Understanding of PLCs.
• Knowledge of 18th edition IEE regulations (desirable).
• Testing and inspection of fixed wiring and equipment.
• Cable and containment selection.
• Installation, build/re‑build of equipment projects.
