English Lecturer – Flexible Teaching Role

About the role
The Supply Register, on behalf of Sunderland College, is seeking enthusiastic English Lecturers for flexible, ad‑hoc teaching assignments. This is an excellent chance to gain experience in a supportive Further Education environment and potentially move into longer‑term positions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging GCSE and/or Functional Skills English lessons.
- Support learners with reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Plan and deliver inclusive, effective teaching sessions.
- Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare learners for exams and assessments.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience teaching English.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and literacy.
- Ability to engage and support post‑16 learners.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Flexible and reliable approach.
- Desirable: teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET), experience in FE or secondary education, experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills English, enhanced DBS.
