Finance Apprenticeship 2027 - Milton Keynes

About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is offering a Level 3 Accountancy apprenticeship for its Finance Operations team in Milton Keynes. The apprentice joins a permanent role from day one and completes an 18-month development programme, earning £23,000. The team keeps the group's retail business running by handling employee expenses, corporate card costs, invoices and supplier payments. At least 3-4 days a week is spent in the office and the apprentice must live within commuting distance.

Key responsibilities

• Learn how employee expenses are managed and use the expense claim system to review submissions
• Check expense claims against company rules so information is accurate and costs are in line with expectations
• Support management of corporate credit card costs and confirm that the correct approvals are in place
• Review supplier invoices and help prepare them for payment
• Help set up new suppliers by completing due diligence checks, including bank and business details
• Maintain clear and accurate expense records and documentation
• Answer employee questions and escalate issues to the Accounts Payable Manager

Required profile

• No insurance experience needed; training is provided
• Confident with numbers and interested in how finance works
• Organised, detail-oriented and able to spot mistakes or missing information
• Able to manage several tasks and meet regular deadlines
• Clear communicator, curious and open to feedback
• Full and unrestricted right to work in the UK, having lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years
• Grade C/4 in GCSE English and B/5 in GCSE Maths
• No qualification that significantly overlaps with the apprenticeship content
