Finance Service Centre Officer

About the role

This temporary position supports a large Higher Education Institution by handling finance queries and providing customer‑focused service. You will act as the first point of contact for internal departments, ensuring accurate processing of expense claims and compliance with finance regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for finance queries via helpdesk, email, phone and MS Teams.
• Deliver a measurable helpdesk service with a focus on first‑time resolution.
• Check and process multicurrency expense documents for casual workers, visiting lecturers, clinical trials, student claims and hardship funds.
• Advise colleagues on correct forms and processes, ensuring submissions meet finance regulations.
• Identify and reject non‑compliant claims (e.g., missing receipts, incorrect forms).
• Verify finance system information, set up new bank accounts and update details as required.
• Assist the finance team with reconciliations and general finance administration.

Required profile

• Extensive customer service experience.
• Experience working as part of a finance team.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good system skills, including proficiency with Excel.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £23.80.
• Hybrid working pattern – 2 days per week on site.
