Financial Accountant – West Sussex

About the role

The company is a people‑focused international business seeking a proactive Financial Accountant to join its high‑performing finance team in West Sussex. The role offers autonomy, hybrid working and the chance to impact a fast‑paced three‑day month‑end close while developing reporting and analytical capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end activities within a demanding three‑day close environment.
• Lead complex balance‑sheet and P&L reconciliations, identifying and resolving issues.
• Support cash‑flow forecasting, fixed‑asset accounting and accruals/pre‑payments.
• Prepare journals and maintain strong financial controls.
• Assist with statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
• Produce insightful reporting and analysis to aid decision‑making.
• Partner with business stakeholders and operational teams to drive efficiencies and improve data quality.
• Develop and automate reporting processes to enhance productivity.

Required profile

• Motivated and analytical finance professional, studying towards or newly qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
• Previous experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
• Proactive, solutions‑driven approach to complex reconciliations.
• Experience working under tight month‑end deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Curious mindset with a desire to continuously improve processes.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel
• Power BI (or strong interest in developing reporting capabilities)
