Financial Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a privately‑owned London property business to appoint a Financial Controller who will act as the right‑hand to the Group Finance Director. The role provides a unique opportunity to shape finance processes across a diversified portfolio of residential and commercial assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance team, overseeing qualified accountants and transactional staff.
• Prepare and own management accounts and statutory reports for multiple legal entities.
• Manage compliance, audit liaison and regulatory obligations across the group.
• Support the family‑office function, including portfolio accounting, banking relationships and shareholder tax coordination.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and asset valuation/analysis for the property portfolio.
• Provide the Group Finance Director with weekly updates on progress, priorities and forward planning.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Experience progressing to a Manager or Senior Manager level within a practice environment.
• Broad practice background in preparing accounts and tax (not pure audit).
• Proven leadership experience managing a finance team.
• Tax awareness with experience preparing or reviewing corporation tax returns (beneficial).
• Demonstrated involvement in ad‑hoc projects, process improvements or initiatives.
• Property or real‑estate sector experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
