Financial Institutions Group Investment Banking Associate

About the role

Citi is seeking an Investment Banking Associate for its Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in London. The role supports clients in the FIG sector with capital‑raising transactions, M&A advisory, and strategic guidance, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the deal lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of investment banking activities, including capital raising and M&A transactions.
• Leverage prior investment banking experience to enhance deal execution and client coverage.
• Contribute to the growth of Citi’s FIG franchise by supporting business development initiatives.
• Manage and mentor analyst team members, providing guidance, feedback, and oversight of information flow.
• Assess risk and ensure compliance with Citi’s policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a closely related field; MBA is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of investment banking or M&A advisory experience within the FIG space.
• Experience in the insurance sub‑industry or additional European languages is a plus.
• Proven ability to evaluate corporate transactions, build financial analyses, and solve complex problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience supporting client development.
