Full-Stack Robotics/Automation Engineer

About the role

Circuithub is building a factory‑scale robotics platform called The Grid to make small‑batch, high‑mix electronics assembly far more efficient. As a Full‑Stack Robotics/Automation Engineer you will be part of the core team that designs, builds, and supports a brand‑new fully automated factory in Cambridge.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and debug a distributed GigE vision system.
• Analyse end‑effector behaviour from video recordings and optimise geometry and control for higher throughput.
• Specify, test and deploy sensors for monitoring chemical processes.
• Commission new robotic systems, including linear motors and control cabinets, and debug TwinCAT PLC code.
• Handle hands‑on tasks such as forklifting steel fabrications, designing end‑effectors and prototyping mechanical fixes on the fly.

Required profile

• Experience building full robotic systems as a student, founder, employee or hobbyist.
• Ability to integrate software, hardware and process into functional systems and debug failures under production pressure.
• Proficiency in creating and adapting PLC code (ideally Beckhoff TwinCat) on the fly.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to diagnose system‑wide failures from first principles.
• Capability to work autonomously while communicating clearly with a remote team and taking full responsibility for production uptime.

• GigE vision system configuration.
• Sensor integration for chemical‑process monitoring.
• CNC machinery programming.
• 3D CAD design, preferably Fusion 360.
• Robotic system commissioning and control cabinet debugging.
