General Manager – Blacksmith Arms Pub

About the role

The General Manager will lead the Blacksmith Arms, a popular single‑bar pub in the heart of St Albans. You will be responsible for delivering outstanding guest experiences, driving commercial performance, and shaping the venue’s future direction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including bar service, kitchen, and outdoor beer garden.
• Lead, motivate and develop a front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house team.
• Manage financial performance, budgeting, and cost control.
• Plan and execute events, live sport screenings, music nights and private hire bookings.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and licensing compliance.

Required profile

• Commercially driven hospitality professional with proven management experience.
• Strong leadership style, able to set the tone for service excellence.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
