General Practitioner - Remote Island in the Eastern South Pacific

About the role

A small island in the Eastern South Pacific, close to the Gambier Islands of French Polynesia, is seeking a General Practitioner. The postholder will be the sole GP serving the island and its 45 permanent residents, handling general sickness and illness and medical emergencies in a remote setting. The appointment starts in September 2026 for 6 months, though longer terms can be accepted.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the sole GP for the island and its 45 permanent residents
• Handle general sickness and illness
• Be confident managing medical emergencies in a remote situation

Required profile

• Full GMC registration and membership of the GMC GP Register in the UK
• Current experience working as a General Practitioner in the UK
• Ideal candidates have a wide field of experience and knowledge and have previously worked in small and isolated communities
