Graduate Intern - Post War & Contemporary Art

About the role

This six‑month graduate internship supports the Post‑War & Contemporary Art Department at Christie’s in London. You will work closely with Sale Coordinators, Cataloguers and Junior Specialists, gaining hands‑on experience in research, catalogue preparation and day‑to‑day department operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior team members with research, valuations and pricing sessions for upcoming sales.
• Conduct in‑depth research on artworks, including visits to the British Library, National Art Library and Tate Library.
• Maintain and organise the department library, re‑shelving books daily.
• Help prepare proposals and write auction catalogue notes.
• Create factsheets, images and lot cards for sale lots.
• Respond to image and factsheet requests and support the specialist team during sale weeks.
• Liaise with internal departments such as Proposals, Image Editing and Valuations.
• Collect and distribute post, arrange couriers and send out catalogues.
• Maintain stationery supplies and resolve office equipment issues with IT.

Required profile

• Interest or knowledge of Post‑War & Contemporary Art.
• Strong organisational, multitasking and prioritisation abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken communication in English; French, German or Italian are a plus.
• Attention to detail, strong follow‑up skills and ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Client‑facing experience and a collaborative team attitude.
