Head of HR – 12‑month Fixed‑Term (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of HR to lead the people function for a well‑established manufacturing organisation based at Stockley Business Park. This 12‑month fixed‑term role (maternity cover) starts in mid‑September 2026 and combines strategic leadership with hands‑on operational delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the UK HR strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
• Provide strategic leadership across HR, fleet, facilities and health & safety, ensuring efficient service delivery.
• Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations, driving continuous improvement and best practice.
• Partner with senior leaders on people strategy, organisational development, workforce planning and change management.
• Design and maintain HR policies, systems and frameworks in compliance with legislation.
• Manage complex employee‑relations cases, including performance, disciplinary, grievance and trade‑union negotiations.
• Lead initiatives to boost employee engagement, talent development, recruitment and leadership capability.
• Drive organisational design and restructuring projects in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and continuous improvement of the working environment.
• Coordinate with Finance to deliver accurate and timely payroll.

Required profile

• Strategic, hands‑on HR leader with proven ability to align people strategy with business goals.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with senior executives to influence decisions and improve performance.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience managing both strategic initiatives and day‑to‑day HR operations.
