Head of HR – Strategic People Leader

About the role

The Bukola Group is partnering with a large, established organisation to recruit a Head of HR who will drive the people agenda across a complex, unionised workforce. Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape and deliver a commercially focused HR strategy while safeguarding strong employee and industrial relations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HR function and set strategic direction for all people‑related activities.
• Act as senior HR advisor to executive and operational leadership teams.
• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
• Manage employee and industrial relations, maintaining effective relationships with recognised trade unions.
• Oversee complex, high‑risk employee relations cases and provide guidance.
• Drive organisational change programmes, restructures, workforce planning and consultation processes.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Develop management capability through coaching and leadership development.
• Use people data and insights to identify risks, opportunities and improvement areas.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience (Head of HR, HR Director or similar).
• Extensive background operating within a unionised workforce.
• Strong expertise in employee and industrial relations, including trade‑union engagement.
• Commercially minded with the ability to align HR initiatives to business performance.
