Head of Italian – Modern Languages Department

About the role

We are seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic Head of Italian to lead our thriving Modern Languages department at Oxford High School. The role involves preparing students for CIE IGCSE Italian and AQA Italian A Level examinations and inspiring our girls to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Italian curriculum for IGCSE and A Level.
• Manage a team of twelve staff members and five foreign language assistants.
• Deliver high‑quality oral lessons to Year 11‑13 pupils.
• Collaborate with the wider Modern Languages department and school leadership.
• Potentially combine responsibilities with Head of Spanish for the right candidate.

Required profile

• Proven ability to inspire and motivate students, particularly girls.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in teaching Italian at secondary level and preparing students for external examinations.
• Leadership experience within a school or similar educational setting.

• Strong knowledge of Italian language and literature.
• Curriculum design and assessment expertise.
